INNOVATION POTENTIAL AS A FACTOR OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Introduction. The article considers the essence of innovation, innovation potential, their structure, as well as their role in the economy. The authors emphasizes that in the conditions of increasing globalization and competition the ability to innovate becomes an important element of economic growth and competitiveness of regions. Materials and methods. The article 127 2024 № 3 Vestnik of Rostov State University of Economics (RINH) discusses various methods of assessing the innovation potential of regions. Research results. The article discusses the necessity of transition from raw material export economy models to innovative, technologically advanced models to ensure sustainable development and increase competitiveness. To achieve this goal, it is important to develop innovation potential through comprehensive support and stimulation of innovation and scientific research. Discussion and conclusion. The authors analyzes the dynamics of such an indicator as innovation activity both in the context of the districts of the Russian Federation and sections of OKVED, and even more detailed: types of manufacturing industry.
