TRENDS IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF SOUTHERN RUSSIAN REGIONS IN NEW ECONOMIC CONDITIONS

Abstract

Sustainable development agenda has already been seriously integrated into development strategies of economic entities, and if initially the ESG-concept was applied only by large enterprises when they formed long-term development strategies, then over time the principles of sustainable development went beyond corporate ownership forms, and began to play a decisive role in development of strategies for balanced development of territories both at regional and at national and even international level. Current geopolitical situation has exacerbated the issues of sustainable development for all domestic regions, especially for southern Russian regions, which are characterized by quite significant development imbalances, and are also located in close proximity to combat zone. This exacerbates the relevance of research aimed at identifying in current conditions those drivers of development that could contribute to sustainable development of Southern Federal District regions.
