OPTIMIZATION OF MATERIAL FLOWS IN TRANSPORT AND WAREHOUSE PROCESSES

Abstract

Article deals with the optimization of internal storage space and impact of this process on corresponding transport and logistics procedures. When designing and assessing the performance of platform for delivery of goods, it is necessary to take into account not only the possible economic result, but also the technological capacities and limitations to achieve this result. In the conditions of dynamic movement of material flow, rationality and optimal use of warehouse space and available resources becomes one of the most important tasks. Application of direct flow principle will ensure the alignment of movement of material flow during the organization of shipments and will influence the related processes. Analysis and calculation of optimization of order picking processes based on construction of Gantt chart, taking into account the customer gaps, platform’s resource constraints, customers’ gaps and bringing the material flow at the «last mile» stage. Authors provided the comparison of the key parameters of work before and after changes in movement of material flow and carried out the calculation of economic efficiency from introduction of a new scheme of internal logistics.
