Introduction. The relevance of this research topic is determined by the profound transformation of financial relations in the context of socioeconomic changes, digitalization, and the increasing social orientation of the state and business. The development of financial science today is characterized not only by the deepening of traditional approaches but also by the emergence of new theories that reflect the specifics of modern challenges. There is a pressing need to systematize and analyze current trends in the development of financial theory, identify their determinants, and identify promising areas for scientific research. The purpose of this study is to identify and characterize key trends in the development of financial science today and to substantiate the patterns in the formation of specific financial theories. Materials and methods. Research methods include historical and logical analysis, a systems approach, classification and theoretical generalization methods, and analysis of scientific publications. The theoretical basis for the study was formed by the works of Soviet, Russian, and foreign scholars in the field of financial theory. Research results. This paper identifies and analyzes key trends in the development of financial science: the evolution of financial thought is determined by the practical needs of socioeconomic development; the translation and development of fundamental ideas and principles occurs within the historical retrospective of scientific thought; the vector of scientific research in the field of finance is clearly determined by the current value orientations and social needs of modern society, as well as the need to achieve positive social change; the need for hybrid theoretical constructs of financial knowledge, encompassing new interdisciplinary areas, arises. Discussion and conclusion. The regularity and necessity of developing specific theories of finance as a response to the increasing complexity of financial relations and the emergence of new research objects are substantiated. It is concluded that modern financial science is developing along a multidimensional path, the main vector of which is the emergence and development of specific theoretical constructs, some of which are presented in this article.
