Abstract

Article presents study of development of theoretical views on problem of creating urban settlements based on ensuring friendly interaction with natural environment. Key features of concepts of creating a garden city, new urbanism, landscape urbanism, sustainable urban devel- opment, and formation of smart city are considered. It is stated that problems of ensuring effective ecological and economic interaction are among the dominant ones that determine the trends in development of modern city.
